Appointment of a temporary independent auditor
Jul. 3, 2006SOFTBANK CORP. (“SOFTBANK”) announces that the board of auditors resolved today to appoint Deloitte Touche Tomatsu as a temporary independent auditor, in line with Article 346-4 and 346-6 of the Company Law.
1. Reason for the appointment
ChuoAoyama PricewaterhouseCoopers was suspended from its business by order of the Financial Services Agency on May 10, 2006, for a period of two months from July 1, 2006 to August 31, 2006. Accordingly, ChuoAoyama PricewaterhouseCoopers lost its qualification and resigned from being SOFTBANK’s independent auditor as of July 1, 2006. In order to avoid the absence of independent auditor and to ensure continuous audit, SOFTBANK appointed Deloitte Touche Tomatsu as its temporary independent auditor.
As for SOFTBANK’s independent auditor effective from the fiscal year ending March 2008 (the 28th term), SOFTBANK plans to seek for an approval to appoint Deloitte Touche Tomatsu as SOFTBANK’s independent auditor, at the annual meeting of shareholders of SOFTBANK to be held in June 2007.
