Blocking spam mails on mobile phones

SOFTBANK MOBILE Corp.

SOFTBANK MOBILE provides services that block spam mails and misleading invoice mails sent to mobile handsets. The default setting on SoftBank mobile phones is to block mails with specified URLs such as dating sites. Simple settings are also available to allow users to set a variety of spam filtering functions in one easy step. The Simple Settings spam filtering function was further enhanced in November 2010 by substantially raising the limit on the number of mail from specified addresses and domains to receive or reject.

As a measure against spam, SoftBank mobile phones are set to limit the maximum number of mails sent per day from one handset, and as soon as a spam mail transmission is detected on a handset, SOFTBANK MOBILE works quickly to take action against the spammer, including suspending certain services or terminating their contract. SOFTBANK MOBILE provides a spam-reporting center, where customers can report spam by simply forwarding spam mails to the center.

Preventing fraud using portal services

Yahoo Japan Corporation

Yahoo Japan provides both technical and systematic measures to prevent phishing*1, crimes using illegally obtained IDs and other illegal activity. Using the login alert service, Yahoo! JAPAN ID holders are notified when login has been made with their ID, and detects possible logins by a third party. The login track display function also allows customers to confirm by themselves whether or not illegal manipulation by a third party has been made. In addition, customers can create a specified login page exclusive for their personal computers by setting a login seal service (a set of letters or picture as a mark) on the login screen. The login seal service works to avoid the risk of phishing.

The Yahoo! Toolbar automatically recognizes the structure of a website, and alerts the user when it detects a false website disguised as Yahoo! JAPAN.
