Other pages provide useful information for learning about environment at elementary and junior high schools, covering topics such as “Global Warming”, “Garbage and Recycling”, and “Nature around Us”.

Yahoo Japan also provides the CO2 Emission Calculator, an application for calculating the annual carbon emissions of a household by simply entering the utilities charge. A service called Yahoo! Carbon Offset offers opportunities for individuals to contribute to global warming prevention by offsetting carbon emissions with the purchase of carbon emission credits^*1 via the Internet.

In April 2011, ITmedia, an operator of internet media business providing IT information and services, opened a technical information website, Environmental Technology Forum, in @IT MONOist, a comprehensive portal site for manufacturing. The site focuses on the two green technology areas where Japan is at the forefront of the world; electric vehicle and smart grid.

There are various ongoing efforts around Japan to combine IT, electronics and energy aiming to create a new electronic society that is easy on environment. Against that backdrop, electric vehicle is playing a greater role as a vital component in such society and smart grid serving as information and electricity infrastructure is put to use in more businesses and households. The Environmental Technology Forum is designed for those engineers and managements who are engaged in planning and development of technologies, products and services relating to electric vehicles and smart grid and those who are interested in state of the art technologies.
