Maintaining fair business relations with business partners

The Procurement Policy of the three telecommunications companies of the SoftBank Group sets the following eight items: provision of fair opportunity for competition, selection of business partners based on rational and clear criteria, compliance with laws, management of confidential information provided by business partners, mutual confidence-building with business partners, green procurement, prohibition of involvement of personal relations, and positive evaluation of CSR efforts by business partners. All procurements by procurement divisions are compliant with this Procurement Policy. Details of each item are available on the websites of each of the three telecommunications companies and the internal and external parties concerned are informed of the policy to ensure their understanding.

Yahoo Japan also collects and analyzes financial information and other corporate information of its business partners. Surveys are conducted about satisfaction and dissatisfaction with business with Yahoo Japan and future needs. The survey results are reflected in improvement of daily business activities. Through these efforts, Yahoo Japan strives to establish good relations and fair and transparent partnership with its business partners.

Addressing CSR challenges together with business partners

The three telecommunications companies of the SoftBank Group maintain a Code of Ethical Purchasing and ask business partners for their cooperation in complying with the code. The purpose of the code is to enable the Group to continue business activities trusted by society by providing safe and reliable products and services to customers. The code consists of the following ten items: environmental consideration, information security, fair competition, quality and safety assurance, occupational health and safety, prohibition of child labor, prohibition of forced labor, prohibition of discriminatory and inhumane treatment, work hours and fair payment.

Details of each item are publicized on the websites of each of the three telecommunications companies to facilitate better understanding by business partners. In order to understand their efforts regarding each item of the Code of Ethical Purchasing, key business partners are asked for cooperation in answering questionnaires about their efforts. Should a violation of the code occur, business partners are requested to correct it without delay.

Promoting fair trade with procurement support service

DeeCorp Limited

DeeCorp provides companies with a comprehensive ICT-based approach to B-to-B purchases. Quotation@Dee is a procurement support service for the entire process of purchasing from optimizing purchase requirements and specifications, disclosing purchase information, and obtaining quotation to supplier selection. In addition, Contract@Dee, an online contract management service, was launched in December 2006.

These systems help to ensure transparency of the supplier selection process and to prevent excessive dependence on specific suppliers and reciprocal dealings. Records of details such as quoting suppliers, negotiation process, vendor selection criteria, contract details also reinforce internal control and are useful to establish appropriate trade relations. 901*1 large corporate purchasers including companies of the SoftBank Group are using the services.
